During the second WINTER ACADEMY the topic ‘normality’ has been investigated. When talking about normality, you often talk about the things surrounding you: the things you are used to, the familiar, people you know, everyday life and routines, your own room, your family, your apartment in your district of your city. Also public offices, questionnaires, checking homework and vocabulary tests, the German Industrial Norm and the restricted least amount of space available to a laying hen are part of what constitutes our German ‘Normality’. The innocent term ‘Normality’ includes nothing less than the source code of our society. The whole of what constitutes our thinking and acting, an aura in which we move and which is a second skin to us. For precisely this reason the vision becomes blurred, to recognize the phenomenon of ‘normality’ as something that is constructed by society and individuals. At the end, our investigation was supposed to help the participants understand themselves and their surroundings/ their reality better or at all.

As much as possible we try to give an inside view into the processes and the outcome of the laboratories. Furthermore you can order a film-documentation. The film describes the academy week from the perspective of participants and artists of four different laboratories. Parallel to the film documentation there is another documentation, which presents each laboratory in it’s ten chapters and which is available on DVD as well.
