Mónika Bálint (born in 1977) dealt with art in the public sphere during
her studies (cultural history, sociology and media). Within the group HINTS,
which she founded together with other fine artists, she co-developed methods to
approach social questions and topics of everyday life. In their art projects
HINTS offer a chance to minorities to raise their voice. Questions that are
meaningful for everyday life are always in the centre of their projects’
attention, such as those asked in the work series ‘effects of manual labour for
the society’. In it the research methods of sociology and social anthropology
were used, among others interviews and group discussions. It was the aim of the
project to find signs of identification with the own occupation within a group
of patchwork makers.
For the WINTER
ACADEMY 2 Mónika Bálint curated four
Hungarian artists in the framework of „Bipolar deutsch-ungarische Kulturprojekte” (bipolar- German/Hungarian
cultural projects) and generated an evaluation of WINTER ACADEMY 2.
