Stephan Behrmann (born in 1970 in Berlin) studied dramatics/ cultural communication and German and Romance languages and literature studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin. Since the mid-90s he has been working partly project oriented but also for several seasons as dramatic adviser/ main dramatic adviser at different theatres and independent theatres, among others at Staatsbank Berlin, Theatrale Halle, Theater unterm Dach Berlin, Deutsches Staatstheater, Temeswar (Romania), Volksbühne Berlin, Freie Kammerspiele Magdeburg, Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin. Among others he worked with Wolf Bunge, Friedo Solter, Armin Petras, Peter Dehler, Mathias Herrmann, Sascha Bunge and developed two theatre productions on his own. Additionally there are several publications.

Since 2001 an important focus of his work has been on continuous jury and workshop activities at youth-theatre meetings in Sachsen-Anhalt, the counselling of a student theatre group and a lecturing position in the framework of the theatre-education training in Sachsen-Anhalt. For his own theatre work, his special interest is a multidisciplinary approach and recourse onto documentary working methods.

At the WINTER ACADEMY 2 Stephan Bermann supervised laboratory 10 - EXCITING NEIGHBORS - together with Imre Keserü.
